  • Instructor and Owner: Don Kim

Don began martial arts at 5 years old in Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu and Boxing. In high school, Don and the captain of the varsity wrestling team began a friendly competition that Don lost after being taken down and pinned. Realizing how important it is to learn how to fight on the ground, he joined the wrestling team. Right after graduating High School, he joined the Army where his Jiu Jitsu training began. After the military, Don trained exclusively in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while living in Chicago, obtaining his blue belt. Making his way to California, Don sought to train with Saulo Ribeiro and became a Certified Instructor in 2011. Now a Black Belt promoted by Saulo Ribeiro, Don seeks to share the quality and efficiency of Jiu Jitsu.

  • Instructor: Geoff Obst

Geoff was first introduced to Jiu Jitsu by his wife, Amanda. Geoff quickly saw the simplicity and efficiency in Jiu Jitsu and dedicated his time to learn and grow in the Gentle Art. Managing his time wisely on the mats, Geoff rose in rank and skill and sought to help other students within the academy. Today Geoff is a Black Belt promoted by Saulo Ribeiro and an active competitor. Geoff uses his ability to simplify techniques by overseeing the Practical Training Program focused on improving Jiu Jitsu during live training.

  • Instructor: Amanda Hodson

Amanda started her journey into Jiu Jitsu after accompanying a female friend to a Jiu Jitsu beginner's class. Being one of the only females in the academy at the time, Amanda had to quickly find her comfort zone while training with men and adapt to the differences in strength and aggressiveness. While managing a chaotic work and home life and life on the mats, Amanda found balance and success in her training and helped pave the way for other females in Jiu Jitsu. As a strong advocate for the women's Jiu Jitsu movement, Amanda is actively involved in programs that support and sponsor Jiu Jitsu events for women all across Southern California. Now as a Brown Belt promoted by Saulo Ribeiro, Amanda continues to train and compete, while teaching the Women's Jiu Jitsu Class.
