Private Lessons

While Redlands Jiu Jitsu is known for the quality of its group classes, some people prefer private training. Private classes enable the student a unique opportunity to focus on their questions and allow for the instructor to adapt the techniques to suit that student's strengths and body type. FAQ - Private Lessons

As you contemplate whether or not a private lesson is for you, please consider the following:

Q: Do I need to have a specific question regarding a technique or a series of techniques?
A: We encourage individuals who are interested in taking advantage of a private session to come prepared with specific questions that can then be addressed by our instructors to best match your strengths, body type, and current understanding of Jiu Jitsu. Coming prepared ensures best use of your time and helps focus the training to meet your needs.

Q: There are so many things I am struggling with. I need work on everything. How do I prepare my questions or know what techniques to focus on?
A: While we understand it can be overwhelming with the number of techniques and positions to consider, we want you to think about 2 things:
1) What techniques, strategies, or positions are you currently working on or attempting (Strengths)?
2) What positions are you consistently struggling with while rolling (Weaknesses)? By thinking about these areas it will help you understand what you might want to develop during your session and enhance your overall experience.

Q: Can I bring a training partner and split the cost?
A: Yes, we highly encourage members to consider inviting a fellow teammate to your private session. A partner can enrich the learning experience, serve as a drilling partner who is familiar with the details after the session, and aid in offsetting the cost.

Q: I would like to cover something I saw online or in an instructional video. Is that something I can cover during my session?
A: Yes. While we acknowledge the benefits that online training can provide, we also recognize there is no substitute for hands on training. If there is something specific you would like us to address during your session, please provide that to your instructor beforehand so we understand what you are interesting in covering.

Q: I have only been training Jiu Jitsu for a short time. Is it too soon for me to consider a private lesson?
A: Not at all. The private session is an opportunity to gain the exclusive attention of the instructor that you choose in a private setting. You are in a constant state of learning and your instructor can provide valuable details and adapt techniques that will enhance your strengths and complement your body type.

An instructor will contact you within 24 hours.
